MODEL TSI-9010-A HPS III SLIP METER
Preparation
For each set of (10) readings Clean leather feet, lightly using sanding block. Use paint brush to remove sandings. Dust surface to be tested using cloth.
Placement
Place slipmeter on floor. Place power unit in front of meter. Align pulley with hook on slipmeter. Connect string to hook on slipmeter.
Operation:
Zero meter by rotating bezel to zero pointer.
Set MRP (maximum reading pointer) to zero.
Hold string taut at center of pulley.
Push down on power unit to keep it from moving, depress switch.
Turn off power when slipmeter moves.
Read MRP for static friction, observe main pointer and average the readings
for kinetic friction.
Repeat above operation instructions for each measurement.
Make (10) measurements in each spot.
Use average of the (10) measurements of static or kinetic if desired.
Evaluation of Readings:
(6) or more - Relatively non-slippery
(5-6) - Generally acceptable
(5 or less) - Relatively slippery
Replacing Feet:
Glue replacements in place.
Calibration:
Grasp slipmeter and hold in vertical position.
Zero meter by moving rim on dial
Use hook provided to let slipmeter hang freely.
Needle on dial should be within calibration (CAL) range on dial.
